Swing Times Venues: Cabaret Arabesque The Little Cabaret with the Big Talent

After many years of enjoying burlesque in Second Life, Ms. Alesha Hax-Creighton founded Cabaret Arabesque in Swing Times, after settling in town and with the encouragement of Captain Creighton. While showing us around, Ms. Alesha was generous enough to share with us what inspired her to create her own Cabaret, “I used to be a nightclub dancer and work gentlemen's clubs. It was very lucrative although creatively very limited. I took Vivienne Dufaux's Burlesque Bootcamp in March of 2012 and really wanted to create a space to explore my own self-expression and provide a venue for others to do the same. I love how burlesque lets a woman be creative, strong, sexy, playful, classy and naughty all at once”.

Cabaret Arabesque presents, each week, the Beauties of Burlesque, a strip tease show that involves elaborate costumes, makeup, stunts and props. As Ms. Alesha explained, “We perform starting out often in exquisitely intricate costumes that are breathtaking for their sheer artistic merit with items such as ostrich feather fans, lacy lingerie, feather boas, jaw dropping make-up, most of the performer’s body is exposed by the end of their performance, with the exception of our naughty bits which are adorned with pasties, g-strings or other skimpy coverings. We build custom sets for each song we perform, allowing us to fully explore our artistic expression; however our emphasis is always on our choreography. We emote only if we are in the mood - our dances speak for themselves!”

The Arabesque performers create an atmosphere of indulgent fantasy with a spirit of showmanship that you won’t find in other venues. Ms. Alesha confided us she “would love it if after a show a person was moved to go ravage their lover, start wearing more feathers or splurge on some new lingerie”.

Join the Beauties of Burlesque at Cabaret Arabesque, every Monday at 8pm SLT in Swing Times. Each show is unique and “always sassy, classy and pretty”!
