Spotlight: Alesha Hax-Creighton

The Spotlight Column introduces the most interesting, famous and exquisite residents. The questionnaire is almost the same and what makes each interview unique is the subject’s answers and reactions.
This week, we are delighted to have Swing Times’ First Lady, Ms. Alesha Hax-Creighton under the Spotlight!

*SL Name: Alesha Hax-Creighton
*Rez day: April 1, 2007
*Best moment in SL: Our partnership ceremony this past Autumn. It was a perfect day of celebrating with friends.
ST: What brought you to Swing Times?
AH-C: Captain Creighton lured me here with the posh accommodations on the Liberty Belle. It was a fantastic place to live. I traveled for many months with Creighton Air tours all over the world. It is a wonderful thing to be able to step out your door and find yourself on safari, in the Polynesian islands, or mountain trekking with friends.

ST: Tell us a bit about your background.
AH-C: I love dancing, art, adventuring and exploring. I have seen so much evolve over the course of my life time traveling from the cyberpunk future to the steam/clock punk past. Lately I have been enjoying the French renaissance. I love the era of the 30's and 40's because of the witty intelligence of the film and music, oh and of course the fashion!

ST: I know you’re always incredibly busy, but fill us in on your daily tasks.
AH-C: I do get busy with managing my home and family life as well as running a the Century Hotel and Cabaret Arabesque. I spend some time each day working at the house as we are still renovating our old tenement building in the Docklands into a livable home. Then I usually stop by the hotel to make sure things are running smoothly and that the Century Cafe is well stocked. Then I get to work at the Cabaret. Currently I am working on renovating the old building for its new location and updating the decor. When we are in regular operation I spend time building sets, choreographing my dance routines and developing my costumes. I am very excited about our reopening in February!

ST: What do you like to do in your spare time you find?
AH-C: I love to spend time with my family. I play with Paul Jr. and my pets. I like to shop, go on treasure hunts and travel with the Captain. I also like to practice ballet in my little studio and work on future projects - one day I would like to open a little store, but I still have so much I want to create for it that it keeps getting delayed. I plan on more time traveling adventures with my new Tardis I got for Christmas.

ST: What was your proudest moment in regards to Swing Times?
AH-C: My proudest moment was opening Cabaret Arabesque. I had wanted my own burlesque theatre for many years and the day I put on my first show was the scariest and the most fun ever!

ST: If you were offered one million dollars or the ability to have one superpower for the rest of your life, what would you choose and why?
AH-C: I would definitely choose the super power and I would pick flying. I love all my airships and planes, and would still enjoy them because I love the technology. However, being able to dance through the air under my own volition would be delightful!
ST: What or who is your favourite and why…
AH-C:   Animal? Well of course I adore cats, but truly I am captivated by foxes. I think they are smart and sweet and playful, and I admire their adaptability.
Superhero? Miss Fury. I really need to make myself a panther suit for crime-fighting.
Place to live? In the city. I love the hustle and bustle, lively arts community and really, high heels are meant for strutting down sidewalks.
Place to vacation? I love the country. Horseback riding, reading books while laying under shady trees, listening to the sounds of the birds, lake swimming. It is really where I recharge.
Season of the year? Summer. Those endless days, picnics, pretty summer dresses and laying by the ocean in my bathing suit. Bliss!
Book? The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. It captures the beauty and absurdity of life brilliantly and reminds us all how amazingly adaptable we can be in the face of anything.
Movie? Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russel. There is a famous line in that movie that I adore, "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!" I have always been a jump in with both feet kind of person and love to fully experience everything that inspires me.
Celebrity? Sir Richard Branson. I love his entrepreneurial spirit, social conscience and sense of play. To me he represents that it all really is possible if we believe in ourselves and get busy on  our passions. Think BIG!
Hobby? Gardening. There is something magical about working with nature to creating evolving beautiful and often edible art.
